She admits she has a fear of germs.
But for her new art installation, Miru Kim has decided to live with pigs for 104 hours, non-stop.
The former medical student is staying in a pen at the front of one of the galleries at Art Basel Miami 2011, and visitors can watch her, naked, through the window.
She will eat and sleep alongside the animals for the next four days.
And getting down in the dirt wasn't easy for the 30-year-old, who suffered badly with obsessive-compulsive disorder as a child.
'It's a very concentrated industrial environment, so the level of smell is toxic,' she told the Huffington Post.

'I get into a mental zone when I am doing a shoot. After I'm done, however, if I can't get the smell off my feet, it's very disturbing.'
Kim, the daughter of a Korean philosopher, has gained notoriety for stripping off and photographing herself naked in strange places such as abandoned factories, tunnels and bridges.
She said the work helps her get over her fears -  'fear of darkness, fear of dangerous activities in general, and fear of dirt'.

She was inspired to create I Like Pigs And Pigs Like Me after reading French philosopher Michel Serres's book Five Senses: A Philosophy of Mingled Bodies, which explores the characteristics of skin.


'Skin is not only an envelope protecting the inner body, or a membrane that allows exchange between exterior and interior of the body,' Kim said. 'It also serves as a mingling point between the outer world and inner self, and between body and soul.
'When I mingle with pigs, I feel my existence more then ever.'
Kim became fascinated with pigs during a university dissection when she was a student at Columbia University in New York.
But she went on to develop a strong attachment to the animals.
'That is when I noticed that their anatomy and skin colour is close to ours,' said Kim about her first intense encounter.
'Pigs are sensitive, intelligent creatures and when I enter the pen with them on these farms they react with fear or curiosity at first.'

Using two normal pigs from a nearby farm, Miru will literally save their bacon after the weekend's performance is up.
'They will lead a very happy life and are already better off than when we found them," said the America-Korean artist.

'We are looking to place them as pets with a family or at a community farm after the show.'

Her Miami performance isn't the first time Kim has lived with pigs, but previously, visitors had only been able to see photographs of her experience.
Now she's hoping her live performance, which ends on Saturday, will convey elements that her previous photo series couldn't.
'I want people to feel the process of my body mingling with pigs, the sense of touch that is harder to grasp in the final photographs,' she said.

A man in Bulawayo’s Nkulumane 5 suburb got the shock of his life after a commercial sex worker he allegedly called to his hotel room turned out to be his daughter. Mr Titus Ncube is said to have collapsed while the 20-year-old daughter bolted after seeing her father.
Mr Ncube last week pleaded with reporters not to publish the story. “I am sorry for what I did. I spoke to my wife and my daughter. I apologised for my actions because I just wanted my family back,” he said. The father of three revealed he forgave his daughter for being a commercial sex worker and hired a therapist to counsel her.
“I don’t blame my daughter for what happened and what she was doing. I feel it was her way of expressing her feelings about the problems in my family,” he said. “She has stopped that and is going back to school next year. My marital problems are not over, but we have a marriage counsellor who is helping us to get over this most difficult period in our marriage.”

Malaysians are ranked third in the world for being the most unfaithful partner.

According to a survey, 33% of Malaysian men admitted that they were unfaithful to their spouses. Thailand is first at 54% while South Korea came in second with 34%.

After Malaysia, the countries next on the list were Russia at 32% and Hong Kong at 29%.

Some 39% of Malaysian women also confessed to having betrayed their partners. The top two countries are Nigeria at 62% and Thailand at 59%.

Russian women are the fourth most unfaithful at 33% while Singaporeans are fifth at 19%.

The survey, conducted by condom manufacturer Durex, was based on interviews with 29,000 people in 36 countries.

It also revealed that Malaysian men have an average of three sex partners in their lives while those in Singapore and Hong Kong have 16, which is the highest in Asia.

A 29-year-old man from China has forced his girlfriend to wear a chastity belt.

Events leading to her wearing the chastity belt began in August when the man, surnamed He, suspected that his live-in lover, known only as Xiao Tian, was seeing another man.

He assaulted Xiao Tian and locked her in the bedroom.

The next day, He bought a chastity belt on the Internet and ordered his girlfriend, born in 1990s, to wear it to work daily.

When Xiao Tian returned home at night, He checked the chastity belt carefully.

He was furious when he found signs of prying on the belt and started assaulting the girl.

He tied up her hands and legs, and locked her up until Xiao Tian almost broke down mentally.

On Aug 23, when He was out, Xiao Tian managed to loosen the rope that was used to tie her hands.

She wrote a "help note" and threw it out of the window.

Police rushed to Xiao Tian's rescue and arrested He on the spot.

He was convicted of illegal confinement of the girlfriend and was sentenced to seven months' jail by Qingyang District People's Court in Chengdu recently.

A man has man died after stunned doctors removed 13 pounds of metal from his stomach.
Farmer Kamleshwar Singh was admitted to hospital in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh complaining of abdominal pains.
Following x-ray inspection, three keys, 431 coins, 196 iron pellets and 17 small bolts were found in his stomach.


Despite removing the items, doctors were unable to save his life.
Bhojram Dewangan, Director of Shreesti Institute of Medical Science and Research Centre, where Mr Singh was treated, said, ‘The patient had been consuming small iron objects for the last nine months.’
‘He visited us complaining of intolerable abdominal pain.
‘After sonography and X- ray tests, the doctors carried out the major surgery.’
Even after the tests the doctors who opened Mr Singh's stomach were shocked by the number and variety of everyday metallic objects they found.
Dr Yadav, led the team that operated upon Mr Singh, who is suspected of having schizophrenia.
‘All the iron objects were lying at the base of his stomach,’ he said.
‘When we started the surgery, we thought we would find a few items.

‘But as we progressed, we were amazed to find such a huge number of coins and pellets had passed into his intestines.

‘Signs of chronic ulceration were apparent in the stomach.’
Mr Singh's friends and family were apparently unaware of his habit of swallowing iron objects.
His wife, said: ‘My husband complained of frequent stomach ache and spent sleepless nights in the past four weeks.
‘But he kept us in the dark about swallowing iron objects.
‘He stopped going to the field citing weakness and was even unable to have his regular meals.’
In addition to schizophrenia experts believed Mr Singh was suffering from additional psychiatric problems which gave him an appetite for non-nutritional foreign objects.

China's Xinhua state news agency says 113 people including 77 government employees have been sentenced in a scandal involving pork tainted with a banned chemical.

Their punishments varied from jail terms to reprieved death penalty, the provincial higher people's court said in a press release.


The main culprit, Liu Xiang, was sentenced to death with two years' reprieve on conviction of harming public safety.
Liu's clandestine workshop producing clenbuterol, a carcinogenic chemical added to pig feed to produce leaner pork, was seized in Henan's Xiangyang city on March 25, 10 days after he was prosecuted, the court said.
Liu's collaborator, Xi Zhongjie, was sentenced to life.

By March this year, they had sold more than 2,700 kg of the chemical that spread to eight provinces including Henan, Shandong and Jiangsu provinces, and made 6.4 million Yuan (RM3.2 million).
The court statement said all the government employees involved in the scandal, including animal health inspectors and food safety officials, received tougher penalties for negligence of duty and power abuse.
Their average jail terms are between three and nine years.
Punishments for the 36 pig farmers involved were more lenient, ranging from probation to jail terms under a year.
China Central Television (CCTV) reported in March that clenbuterol was detected in pigs purchased by a subsidiary company of Shuanghui Group, China's largest meat processor.
The report was followed by a nationwide boycott of the Shuanghui brand and a food safety overhaul.
Clenbutoral is banned as a livestock feed additive as it can cause nausea, dizziness, headaches and heart palpitations in humans.
