Doctors remove bullet from woman's face that lodged there 42 YEARS ago

 

He Wenying had a headache - and it wasn't going away.
In fact, it didn't go away for 42 years.
And when it spread throughout her entire body earlier this month, she decided she could wait no longer.
He, 65, went under the knife earlier this month to allow doctors to remove a bullet that was embedded in her skull in 1967 during China's Cultural Revolution.
The 3.3cm bullet apparently hit He when it ricocheted through a thin wall during a fight  between rival factions of Red Guards amid the communist fundamentalism of the early Cultural Revolution.
It lodged into the right side of her face between her jaw and her ear.
Astonishingly, she did not realise a bullet was there until 1978, when doctors finally figured out what the cause of her persistent headaches was.

But terrible medical conditions at the local hospital in her remote town meant doctors had to send poor He home to suffer another 30 years of headaches - knowing full well what the problem was, but unable to do anything about it.

ASEAN Leaders to Gather in Jeju Next Month 

Leaders of ASEAN will gather for the first time in Korea for the ASEAN Summit in Jeju Island on June 1-2. The leaders of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Burma, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam will come here to mark the 20th anniversary of South Korea becoming a regular ASEAN dialogue partner.

The leaders are to issue a joint declaration on improving Korea-ASEAN relations in four areas -- security, economic development, society and culture, and global issues.

The majority of heads of state coming to the Korea-ASEAN Summit have a special attachment to Korea, and this is part of the reason why all 10 leaders are attending.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen is famously pro-South Korean. Cambodia was traditionally closer to North Korea due to its political orientation, but Hun Sen risked his political career in 1997 to establish diplomatic relations with South Korea. In 2000, he appointed now-President Lee Myung-bak as his economic advisor.

The father-in-law of Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono was the first Indonesian Ambassador to Korea. Yudhoyono stopped in Korea on his way back to Indonesia after completing military training in the United States in 1976, and it was then that he met his wife Kristiani Herawati, the eldest daughter of ambassador Sarwo Edhie Wibowo. "Thanks to his personal attachment to Korea, President Yudhoyono promised to come to Korea despite his busy schedule, with just two months remaining until the presidential election," the Foreign Ministry said.

Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's father, former president Diosdado Macapagal, was one of the most prominent pro-South Korean politicians in the Philippines. As a member of the House of Representatives, Macapagal proposed a resolution for Philippine troop support for the South during the Korean War, and persuaded the House to ratify the bill. Arroyo has said it was a proud experience when she came to Korea to receive an appreciation plaque from the government in the 1960s.

Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva loves Korean soap operas. When he visited Jeju Island as a lawmaker in 2007, Abhisit made a special request to his Korean counterpart to visit the location of "Jewel in the Palace."

Burmese junta leader Thein Sein is an ardent fan of "Prince of the Legend," and reportedly told his staff that the power struggle in the series is similar to what happened in the course of history of Burma.

Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and Laotian Prime Minister Bouasone Bouphavanh have no direct personal ties to South Korea but both their countries have seen plenty of Korean investment.

"Kate wants to de-stress and is enjoying taking time out to meditate and learn about Buddhism. She finds it calming."

The British beauty is keen for her friends to share her new interest but is not having the response she hoped for.

The source added to Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "She lights sandalwood incense sticks in front of the statue and makes her friends do the same. The problem is that everyone just sits choking on the fumes."

Last week, it was reported her friend and mentor, Topshop tycoon Sir Philip Green, warned the 35-year-old star to start behaving more responsibly.

A source revealed: "Philip told her straight she's partying too hard. He told her she needs to look after herself for her own good and warned she's ruining her looks with the alcohol.

        Thousands of Malaysian Hindus are seeking blessings from a group of wild
boars believed to possess magical powers, shruging off concerns about a global
outbreak of swine flu.

        The sun newspaper reported a Hindu temple in the north-western
Malaysian state of Perak has been drawing a steady stream of thousands of
visitors daily, eagar to feed and touch dozens of wild boars.

       The boars , which started to appear near the temple about
a year ago , are believed by devotees to possess magical
powers and can bring good luck.

       Among the busloads of devotees and visitors from as far away as
Singapore and Thailand are lottery punters hoping that the boars' good
luck will rub off on them.

      " It is a miracle, so it is okay, " said one devotee.

An 82-year-old Italian man who took a Viagra pill scared his wife so much she called the police.

Giovanni di Stefano, from Palermo, was so excited his wife thought he would have a heart attack and dialled 999.

"The police didn't do anything but their presence had the desired effect. He lost interest in his love life pretty quickly," said a family friend.

Terrified wife Carla, 69, told police: "He is 82-years-old and so I thought so much love could have lethal consequences."

An Italian man returned home from work early - to find his wife in bed with their local priest.

The angry husband stormed into the local bishop's office in Chioggia, near Venice, and demanded an explanation.

Later police had to be called to calm him down, reports the Daily Telegraph.

The local bishop Angelo Daniel has now confirmed that the adulterous priest has been sent to another parish for "reeducation".

The 53-year-old priest was described as a specialist on the Bible and had been a good friend of the couple.

The husband, 39, and his wife, 37, have two children.

Bishop Daniel added: "I have always respected the priest in question and I will continue to respect him. You cannot discount all the good a person has done in their life just because of one mistake."
