For many, one wife is enough.
But Islamic faith healer Bello Maasaba has only said: 'I'm done' after an incredible 107 marriages, producing 185 children.
And the 87-year-old Nigerian, who now has an extended family of more than 5,000 people, says obedience is the quality he most values in a wife.
The polygamist claimed to have a revelation from God in the 1970s, telling him to
become a healer and take a succession of wives.
'In his wisdom, God has given me the power and strength to give them the sexual portion they need. If I didn't satisfy them, they would leave'
'I get a revelation from God telling me any woman I'm going to marry. If it wasn't from God, I wouldn't have gone beyond two,' he told the LA Times.
However, his revelations and subsequent marriages have led him to disputes to the ruling Islamic authorities in Bida, Nigeria.
Sharia law suggests four wives should be the limit for a Muslim man.
As a result, Islamic police arrested Mr Maasaba in September 2008, throwing him into jail after he disobeyed demands to divorce 82 of his wives, keeping just four.
His loyal wives protested outside the prison, and later, at the nation's High Court, he was released after 57 testified saying they had all married him willingly.
Today, the wealthy guru lives with 89 of his wives, the youngest just 19 and the oldest is 64 in an 89-room building.
Nine others have died while he has divorced 12 for disobeying him.
Of his 185 children, just 133 are still living and controversially when any are sick, he bans them from receiving any hospital treatment relying instead on his skills as a healer.
'I told them not to go to hospital. They must report to me and pray. Some of my wives don't have that confidence,' he said.
'They would take them to hospital behind my back. If anyone goes behind my back, the child will develop a swelling in the body and will eventually die.'
But despite his hard-line approach to family life, Maasaba is held in high affection by all his wives, who he claims to satisfy romantically.
He said: 'In his wisdom, God has given me the power and strength to give them the sexual portion they need. If I didn't satisfy them, they would leave.'
