A deer is fed a bottle of beer at a resort in Weihai, northern China's Shandong province. According to Zhang Xiangxi, who works as a waitress at the resort's restaurant, she discovered the deer's unusual tastes last November when she was cleaning up after some customers. 
She says: "I saw a bottle of beer was still half full so I playfully passed it to the deer. Unexpectedly it bit the bottle and raised its head and drank all the beer in one shot."
Since then, says Zhang, whenever there is any leftover beer she takes it to feed to the deer. She comments: "It has a growing addiction to beer. To begin with it was half a bottle but now it is several big bottles in a row.
Her daily feed is around two bottles of beer." Zhang adds: "I don't know what her maximum appetite for beers is though we once tried giving her four bottles of beer and she drank them all"

Hanama, a three-year-old male orangutan, is only too happy to cradle Skukuza and Simh, who are both male and a month old.
The ape formed a bond with the boisterous cubs as soon as he met them, according to their keepers at Myrtle Beach Safari, in South Carolina in the United States.
Hanama lies on his back to let the month old lions relax on his stomach and is often caught gazing down affectionately at the cubs before hugging them.
The park’s director, Dr Bhagavan Antle, said: ‘Hanama is very smart and he was brought in to babysit the cubs.
‘He took to them straight away and watches over them as they play. He runs about with them and sometimes picks them up to have a cuddle.
‘He will occasionally balance them in his arms and shows them a lot of love.’
It is standard practice for cubs at the park to be taken away from their parents at birth, because they are thought more likely to survive.
Sadly, the cubs will have to be separated from Hanama in about six months because they will have grown too large for him to handle.
‘They will grow apart eventually, it’s inevitable,’ Dr Antle said.

Four people were killed after a bloody altercation took place over a 1 yuan (45 sen) parking charge in China's Yangpu district.
Shanghai police have detained a suspect after four men were stabbed to death Wednesday night at a residential complex in Yangpu district, Shanghai Daily reported Friday.
The dead include the keeper of the complex's moped shed, Liu Haihao, and three men who fought with him.
They had an argument with Liu as they suspected that he was overcharging. Liu demanded 1 yuan for each moped while the others maintained that each moped should only be charged 0.5 yuan.
"'Help, help!' I just heard the screaming after 10 pm," a resident at the complex on Siping Road was quoted as saying.
Investigators were trying to figure out who stabbed whom in the dark.
When police arrived at the spot, three bodies were lying on the ground. Another man was seen with a knife sticking into his stomach and he died after being taken to Shanghai Hospital.

Russia's Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin has urged citizens to smoke and drink more, saying that higher consumption would help lift tax revenues for spending on social services.
"If you smoke a pack of cigarettes, that means you are giving more to help solve social problems such as boosting demographics, developing other social services and upholding birth rates," Kudrin was quoted as saying by the Interfax news agency on Wednesday.
"People should understand: Those who drink, those who smoke are doing more to help the state," he said.
The Russian government announced plans to raise excise duty on alcohol and cigarettes.
Alcohol and cigarette consumption are already high in Russia, where 65 per cent of men smoke and the average Russian consumes 18 litres of alcoholic liquid per year, according to The New York Post.
Russian cigarettes sell at around US$1.30 (RM4.07) per pack and unfiltered cigarettes selling for even less.
Duties on cigarettes are among the lowest in Europe.
Official figures indicate that alcohol abuse negatively impacts male life expectancy, which is lower than in such developing countries as Bangladesh and Honduras.
It also kills 500,000 Russians every year.

In The Grand Design, extracts of which were printed today, Prof Hawking concludes: 'Because there is a law such as gravity, the universe can and will create itself from nothing.
He also leaves open the possibility of life on other planets and entire new universes - the so-called 'multiverse'.

Professor Hawking also says that form of complex theoretical physics known as M-theory, a type of string theory, could be the 'holy grail' that will explain everything in the known universe.

A teacher at a Thai school has been sacked after a concealed camera caught him beating children with a cane wrapped in electrical wire. Somchai Limthanmaporn is accused of abusing at least 40 pupils at a Catholic boarding school in northeast Thailand.
A pupil secretly filmed the abuse on a mobile phone, and it caused uproar when it was broadcast on Thai television. Nongkran Prathumtri, an administrator at St Mary's School in Nakhon Ratchasima province, confirmed the art teacher had been fired.
In the footage, Somchai is seen aiming baseball-like swings at the childrens' back-sides, and leaves at least one of his victims in tears. Pictures of scarred buttocks were widely shown in the Thai media.
Somchai is said to have carried out the punishment on students who failed to tidy their rooms. "He must be responsible for his wrongdoing," Mr Nongkran said. "There will be no protection from the school." Thailand's Education Ministry bans teachers from using force against children, but corporal punishment is not unusual in the country. Police are deciding whether to take action against the teacher.

A sex-starved businessman was so hung up on his ex-girlfriend after she dumped him that he paid $18,000 (RM50,769) to recreate her as a life-sized sex doll.

The 50-year-old man put together a collection of photos of his ex and told Italian adult toymaker Diego Bortolin: "I want it just like her but with bigger boobs", Italy's Il Messaggero newspaper said.
Bortolin, who hasn't named the man, creates extremely realistic sex dolls at the factory behind his shop, named "Temptations" in English, in Treviso, Italy. "She was a smiling blonde girl but he wanted bigger boobs and a curvier bum," Bortolin said.
"Our normal dolls are very realistic and everything works just like the real thing.
Bortolin said he usually charges around $US5,000 (RM15,690) for the dolls, but that this particular project was more expensive "because we had to replicate everything, right down to the shape of her nails and teeth".
The doll weighs 58kg and is about 1.6m tall. Bortolin said the doll is fully flexible and can take on any movement or position a human can.
"She is now the perfect girlfriend as far as I can see,"Bortolin said.
