You certainly wouldn't want these guys to put a foot wrong when washing your car.
Elephants Tiki, Alice and big male George are being used by a safari park to wash cars and thereby help it beat the credit crunch.

The pressure-washing pachyderms even turn their hand to a rub down for the bodywork of the vehicles as they deftly hold cloths and sponges with their trunks.

Drivers can get up close and personal with the enormous creatures at the new Elephant Car Wash for just $20.

Executive director Dan Van Slyke, at Wildlife Safari, in Oregon, USA, said the elephants had been a huge success with visitors to the park.

He said: 'They are so popular I've seen people drive around back to them again, because they love it so much.

'All the elephants love it too which is the important thing and they can't wait to get started and play with the water.

'George, our big male, is particularly good at blasting water out of his trunk, it's like a pressure washer, I'm always surprised he doesn't do any damage.

'A lot of parks and zoos have real trouble finding enough things to stimulate something as big and intelligent as an elephant, but this seems to be just the ticket.
'One of our keepers had the idea after she noticed that the elephants loved to suck up and spray water.

'By doing this our visitors get a great chance to get up close to these magnificent creatures and the elephants get the chance to turn the tables on the humans for a change, we're entertaining them.

'Times are tough for everyone at the moment with the credit crunch and we have some jumbo food bills, so the money raised really helps.'

The park makes no guarantees the cars will actually get fully cleaned, but there are no reservations required for visitors to use the service.

Alice and Tiki, both 39-years-old, live with their toyboy bull elephant George, 28, at the elephant barn at the park.

They have more than 600 acres to explore and staff said they have also turned their trunk talents to painting and even playing a harmonica.
