A father who 'died' for 45 minutes was brought back from the dead after his body was frozen for two-and-a-half days.
Doctors feared roofer Matt Fox would be left seriously brain damaged after his heart stopped beating for three-quarters-of-an-hour.
But the actions of his quick-witted fiancee Jane Bracey, who gave him cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and hospital staff who placed him in an ice suit to cool his body down, kept him alive.

Now, four months later, the 47-year-old father-of-one is fighting fit and ready to return to his job as a roofer at Tonbridge School.
Fox, who has a hereditary heart condition, said: 'I know I was very, very lucky.
'I feel really good now and can't wait to get back to work. I'm really looking forward to it.'
'The only things I'm not allowed to do are bungee jumping, tobogganing or rugby - anything which could cause impact.

 'Jane was amazing when it happened, I still can't believe it.' 

She was so amazing, in fact, that Fox ended up proposing to her from his intensive care unit bed. The couple are due to marry next year.

Miss Bracey said: 'He says he doesn't remember doing it (proposing). I'm just glad to have him back.' 
Although Miss Bracey laughed about the incident, circumstances were infinitely more serious when she walked in to her sitting room at home in Tonbridge, Kent, to see her then partner of three months having what she thought was a heart attack.
She said: 'We were watching a DVD and I went to get a drink. I came back and heard strange noises and thought he was being ill. Then he stopped breathing.
'I called 999 and gave CPR and tried to stabilise him. He was taken to hospital (Kent and Sussex in Tunbridge Wells) and they told us there may be no hope.
'He hadn't breathed properly for 45 minutes and the heart and neuro-surgeons said they thought he'd sustained major brain damage.
'They put him into a suit filled with ice cold fluid and reduced his body temperature for two-and-a-half days.
'They said if there was going to be any brain damage then it wouldn't repair it, but wouldn't make it worse.
'His temperature was brought back up and when he opened his eyes he was fine.
'He spent four weeks in intensive care, one week on a normal ward, and came home in time for Christmas.' 
Miss Bracey, 48, a carer trained in first aid, is now calling on all school children to undergo CPR training.
She said: 'It's so important. Matt had cardiomyothapy which is where the muscle stops working.
'It was hereditary as his brother Paul died of the same condition at the same age.
'If I hadn't known how to do it, then we would be in a very different situation right now.'
