But those bloopers pale by comparison to what has been dubbed the craziest penalty in the history of football. It's a spot-kick that has made an Internet hit out of a very embarrassed Moroccan goalkeeper.Khalid Askri thought he had saved a crucial spotkick in a Moroccan Cup game playing for FAR Rabat against Moghreb Fes on Thursday.
The confident keeper pointed to his left as the Moghreb player stepped up to take the penalty.
And when he dutifully hit a low shot to Askri's left, the keeper made a diving save, pushing the ball away from his line.Askri then leapt to his feet and turned to the crowd, slapping his chest and kissing the team badge.
If only he had played the whistle: as Askri celebrated making the initial save, the spinning ball hit the turf and rolled back over the line into the empty net. The bemused Moghreb Fes player pointed this out to the referee, who promplty blew his whistle and gave the goal.
The score meant that Fes qualified for the quarter-finals.
'Khalid Askri thought he was a hero, but he's just a zero,' an onlooker said.
'It was the craziest penalty in football history.'
