Thirty years ago, Li Liuqun was stung by a poisonous scorpion while hiking on a hill near his village in Henan, China.

The angry Li picked up the insect and chewed it hard in revenge.

It unintentionally led him to discover his version of an exotic delicacy.

Since then, Li has had a craving for raw scorpions.

"I think I have eaten tens of thousands of scorpions over the part years," said Li, 58.

Li has a big porcelain container in his home where he stores all the scorpions he catches from the hill.

"Anytime I feel like eating them, I just grab a few and put into my mouth.

"They have a nice aroma and taste like fried soya beans."

Li said sometimes the insects would sting him in the mouth as he bites through them but added that the swelling only lasted for a while.

"I'm immune to the poison," he said.
