From small, Brenda Allison had metallic objects such as coins, safety pins, magnets and even metal lids stuck on her body.
The 50-year-old British accounts manager has also set off car alarms, interrupted television signals and blown out light bulbs.
"When I was a child, my parents stopped buying me watches because my magnetic field kept interfering with the timing mechanism.

"We also constantly had the TV repair man round because I had interfered with the electronics in some way," she said, adding her body could emit a negative or positive charge, depending on the time of the month.

The mother of one child, who is dubbed "the human magnet", said she was often embarrassed by her mysterious power.

"I had a dreadful experience at a supermarket. When I reached the check-out, the till machine started to misbehave.

"The man on the checkout shouted at me and accused me of putting a voodoo curse on his till."

Allison said the metallic objects could stay on her body for up to 45 minutes and when the pulse was at its strongest, she could even dance without the items falling off.

As she grew up, she realised the magnetic pulses were strongest at the end of each menstrual cycle.

Allison, of Holloway in North London, first noticed the effects of her magnetism when she was in nursery school.

She said: "Metal objects don’t fly towards me but when I put them close to my skin I can feel a pull. They tend to stay on for longer if they are near a bone - I don't know why."

"My son has grown up with my magnetism, so he finds it normal. But he used to complain when it stopped his battery-operated toys from working."

Every person has an electromagnetic field flowing through his or her body but most would not notice it because the field is too weak.

Kathy Geminiani, an electrotherapy expert, said it was possible that Allison has a stronger charge in her body.

"Everyone has a charge, all slightly different. It sounds like Brenda is highly charged."
